I and the other staff members have recently noticed an increase in the number of times the candidates for deletion tag has been used. While in general this is fine, we feel that the tag has been used inappropriately in a number of cases. We feel we need to clarify the tag’s main use.

The tag is only supposed to be used in cases of obvious vandalism, and when a page is being actively discussed and considered for deletion.

From now on, editors will not be allowed to place the tag on articles they want to be deleted. Instead, they will need to start a discussion about the articles they wish to be removed in either the forums or the discord server.
