This is a heads-up that the BringExternalLinkIconsBack site enhancement has been enabled on the wiki. It was voted on during the April 19, 2025 moot.

As the name of the enhancement suggests, BringExternalLinkIconsBack brings back the icon next to external links that was removed during the move to UCP.

6 months have passed since the "meme pause", and we have come to a conclusion: Memes articles and categories still cannot be created on the wiki without discussion. Memes are a subject that require group consensus to document, and we still haven't figured out the overall criteria.

But in the meantime, we have set up a formal place within the SiIvaGunner Wiki Discord to come to consensus on this subject: the meme discussion channel. Individual memes may be approved for documentation within threads here, and the overall concept + creation of criteria will be discussed in the main chat.

Hello all,

Members of the wiki community have voted to suspend the creation of new meme pages, effectively immediately.

Specifically, we will pause the creation of:

• Meme articles (redlinks already in Template:MemeNav may have pages made for them)

• Meme categories

• New additions to Template:MemeNav

...until either:

1. A system for meme restructuring is proposed and agreed upon in a moot OR

2. 6 months have passed (i.e. November 25, 2024 at 4:58 PM PDT)

Addendum: If agreed upon in a moot, one meme at a time may be added and bypass the pause.

The pause was voted on during the May 25, 2024 moot, one of the moots, monthly meetings that happen over in the SiIvaGunner Wiki Discord. The pause was motivated by flaws in our current meme creation system, which have been unclear and inconsistent. The hope is that this pause will encourage the creation of new meme criteria.

If you have questions or comments regarding the pause or the moot, please leave them in this thread.

Hello fellow wiki users!

I’d like to announce that we have made a to-do list on additions and changes to the wiki that were approved in previous moots, but have yet to be amended to the wiki itself.

The list gives a brief description on each task that needs to be done, and lists the required steps for them. It also gives a completion percentage for each step to show how much work has been done on them. Tasks will be removed from the list once they are completed.

Anyone can update the task list with the community’s current progress and may add more tasks that are agreed to during future moots.

Today we would like to announce that the multi-source meme criteria has now come into full effect. During the moot focused around the topic that took place on August 19, 2023, we voted on a few more amendments to the list’s criteria. Rules against creating blank articles

We now have written rules against creating empty articles on the wiki. Making blank articles has always been frowned upon by pretty much all of our frequent editors and staff, but this rule has previously only really been mentioned in edit summaries, conversations in the discord server and messages on user walls.

As a result of this, we feel it’s been long overdue to have these rules listed on the wiki itself. They are now officially part of the wiki’s content policy, and can be found under the “Don't create incomplete pages” section linked below. Please read through them carefully and familiarise yourself with them.

Upcoming multi-source memes criteria

During the July 2023 moot, we created a set of criteria for classifying multi-source memes on the wiki. It is designed to be a standard that the wiki will follow to determine when a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel has multiple different sources attached to it. Examples of multi-source memes that could possibly be classified as such under this criteria include frequently referenced video games and bands, such as Undertale and Maroon 5 respectively.

We decided to add an early version of criteria to the wiki’s content policy with a grace period lasting until August 6, where it was originally planned to come into full effect. During this period, we allowed discussion on the topic in a thread in the wiki’s Discord server centred around the topic, and we would consider implementing any changes to the criteria that were suggested in there.

However after observing the current situation with the criteria, we have decided that there are more things that need to be sorted out and discussed regarding it that we are likely unable to cover prior to August 6.

We have also noticed that the thread in the Discord server seems to have been forgotten about. This is likely due to the way Discord displays threads in servers which often leads to them getting buried, and we probably should have taken that into consideration before we made it.

In response to these issues, we have decided to enact the following changes. The current grace period for the multi-source memes criteria has been extended to August 20. On August 19, we will have a separate moot centred solely around this topic where the final criteria will be voted on, and the changes will come into effect the following day. Prior to this happening, all discussion and proposals on the topic will be in the new temporary channel multi-source-meme-discussion in the Discord server, which will replace the inactive thread in it.

I also want to emphasise that we don’t normally make large decisions on the wiki during regular conversations in the Discord server itself. Moots are where the final decisions on all proposals are made, including this one. We’re just having a temporary channel in the Discord server for this one topic to get more opinions on it, since most of our active editors primarily interact in there.

The SiIvaGunner Wiki administrative team would like to announce that we now have written rules regrading the way lists are formatted as part of the wiki’s Manual of Style. These new rules will come into effect starting today.

How will this effect existing lists?

All existing lists will need to be updated to match the new rules if they don’t already. This process will likely take about a week.

Why has this been done?

The main reason why this was decided is because the wiki previously did not have any specific rules regarding the way lists are formatted. The result of this led to a lot of lists of the same type having wildly differing formatting, and we want the wiki to be consistent to make it easier to understand and navigate.

In addition to this, we have wanted to make an update to the way lists of contributions are formatted for quite a while now, and we figured this would give us a great opportunity to make these changes as part of the manual of style as well.

Some types of lists are missing from this, why is that?

We want to focus on just the lists for uploads and contributions for now. The reason for this is because we feel this is a pretty big change for the wiki and would like to implement it in gradual chunks instead of doing it all at once.

The wiki staff team is happy to announce that we are trying out two new initiatives to help streamline our decision making process.

New proposal system

From now until the end of July, new proposals will be reviewed by the staff team before they are implemented. This is a test to see how a staff-centered approval system would work and how effective it would be. Check out the details at SiIvaGunner Wiki:Proposals.

The Moot: A SiIva Wiki Monthly Meeting

We're also going to try out a new wiki meeting system called Moot! It's a monthly meeting that we hope to use to streamline making editorial decisions. It'll be hosted in the SiIvaGunner Wiki Discord, and you must let us know your wiki account to participate. The logs and summary of the meeting will be posted to the wiki afterwards.

I am happy to announce that two of our wonderful community members have joined the SiIvaGunner Wiki administration team as moderators!

Please welcome @Navid0 (a.k.a. Navid_d) and @MSL925 the fox (a.k.a. Miles Prower) to the mod team!

I and the other staff members have recently noticed an increase in the number of times the candidates for deletion tag has been used. While in general this is fine, we feel that the tag has been used inappropriately in a number of cases. We feel we need to clarify the tag’s main use.

The tag is only supposed to be used in cases of obvious vandalism, and when a page is being actively discussed and considered for deletion.

From now on, editors will not be allowed to place the tag on articles they want to be deleted. Instead, they will need to start a discussion about the articles they wish to be removed in either the forums or the discord server.

Hi everyone, we'd like to propose that we create a guideline about categories. This is to ensure that we have a common understanding of how to use them. The proposed text of the guideline is on SiIvaGunner Wiki:Categories. If there's consensus for implementing it we'll adopt it as an official guideline.

There shouldn't be any big changes compared to how categories currently work in practice, other than that new categories should be proposed in a discussion post or on Discord before being created.

Please let us know if you don't agree with what the proposed guideline says or think it could be improved. While the page is still a draft, feel free to edit it (but do explain why you think a particular change is warranted).

Recently, people on the SiIvaGunner Wiki's Discord server have brought up that the frequently ripped tracks category is getting very large, and that it has generous standards for what qualifies as a frequently ripped track.

Upon internal discussion, the wiki staff have decided to increase the minimum number of rips for a track to qualify as frequently ripped from 8 to 10. This may change in the future, and rules for what qualify as rips of the same track may also change. For now, we've decided to slightly increase the number to see how much that changes things.

Hello all,

The SiIvaGunner Wiki Admin Team has decided to disable logged out editing on the wiki. This change will come into effect immediately.

What does this mean?

This change means that all editors on the wiki must be logged in to edit the wiki. For the vast majority of users, this change will not impact your editing experience. For those who do not have an account, you must create a FANDOM account to edit the wiki. Existing changes made by logged out users will not be affected.

Why this change?

As stewards of the wiki, our role is to advise editors in making quality edits, which requires accountability and strong communication between all users. This is one of the reasons why we announced the Discord server earlier this year. The recent removal of Message Walls from anonymous users on FANDOM's interface has made it difficult to communicate with IP users. We feel that having an account on FANDOM is essential for both points, as having an account guarantees that everyone has at least one avenue to communicate (the Message Wall), and everyone can be held accountable for their edits.

What is next?

In the following weeks, we will be outlining the rules and guidelines of the wiki to better communicate our expectations of the wiki community and outline our standards for appropriate conduct on the wiki. This change is a part of FANDOM's new Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy.

If you don’t know me, I am Ironwestie, the current head administrator of the wiki. I’ve been an admin since 2017, and the sole active admin of this wiki since around 2018. As admin, I perform important tasks like deleting pages, helping editors new and old navigate our editing process, and moderating the wiki’s community and content.

After several years of moderating this wiki solo, today I am happy to announce a new team of administrators and moderators!

Additionally, we will be in contact with SiIvaGunner backroom members for their input on some content-related matters.

“Why a new team?”

As the SiIvaGunner community and the wiki’s community has grown, I have come to realize that it would be in the best interest of the wiki to have an expanded admin team made of veteran members of the community. I fully intend this admin team to grow as we grow as a team; however, I contacted these wonderful people first and foremost because they are all:

• Experienced editors that are familiar with how the wiki works

• Positive influences on the community and have shown their dedication in encouraging it whenever possible

• Consistently active on the wiki and are accessible to people who are looking for help

“What’s next?”

What we will be doing in the coming weeks is refining our roles as the admin team, reformatting our Manual of Style to make it easier for editors to find help editing, and clarifying our rules for editing and moderating this wiki. We will also be discussing a new Discord for the wiki, so stay tuned for that!
