- "antonym + nymph=antonymph. it's basically implied than an antonymph is somepony who is otherwise shy and reserved, but discovers that they can break out of their shell and become a social popstar."

Overview[]
"ANTONYMPH" is an electronic hip-hop song by independent musician Vylet Pony. Released on June 11, 2021, as part of her project CUTIEMARKS (And the Things That Bind Us), the song primarily addresses themes of self-acceptance, free expression, current societal issues, and "indulging your passions and fixations, regardless of if some internet rando wastes their time berating you for it." Its style incorporates elements of late-2000s and early-2010s Internet culture, with its lyrics referencing popular online media from that time period, such as Ray William Johnson's Equals Three series and the songs "Do You Like Waffles?" and "I Got No iPhone" by Parry Gripp, as well as the My Little Pony memes "20% Cooler" and "Fluttershy's Cheer".
The song's release was accompanied by an official music video on YouTube. The video features illustrations and animations of "Flutt-GIR-shy", a version of Fluttershy from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic wearing a hoodie of the character GIR from Invader Zim, alongside numerous other references to early Internet culture. The video has become the most viewed original project on Vylet Pony's channel, with the Flutt-GIR-shy character also becoming incredibly popular on social media. Two remixes of the song were released to celebrate its first anniversary in 2022, "2009 Newgrounds Version" on June 11 and "Vylet Ponystep Remix" on June 18, alongside the release of the song's stems and a Tumblr blog post detailing its creation process.

"ANTONYMPH" was first referenced by SiIvaGunner in the rip "Field of Hopes and Dreams (PAL Version) - Deltarune", released on December 21, 2021, during SiIvaGunner's Inevitable Holiday Celebration. The rip contains visuals spoofing those of the song's music video, featuring original illustrations and animations of a version of Noelle from Deltarune based on Flutt-GIR-shy, dubbed "GIR-elle", likely inspired by the similarities between them and Noelle's sexuality relating to "ANTONYMPH"'s themes of queer expression. The rip has become highly popular since its release, receiving over 500k views within two years, and was officially acknowledged by Vylet Pony in the video's comments and the one-year anniversary Tumblr post. GIR-elle would later be featured in the Inevitable Holiday Celebration's banners, its finale, and the album cover of The Inevitable Holiday Album.
Following the Inevitable Holiday Celebration, "ANTONYMPH" has been regularly referenced in several rips, with some also featuring unique animated visuals taking after the first rip. GIR-elle has also attracted mass attention not only in rips, but also on social media beyond the SiIvaGunner community, inspiring numerous fan-made works, with the @GiIvaSunner Twitter account regularly retweeting art pieces of the character.
