Originally composed by Pokémon composer Junichi Masuda, the track plays in Pokémon Gold & Silver during the battles against Lance and Red. After its initial appearance, the track has appeared in subsequent Pokémon games as Lance and/or Red's battle theme, including in the sister game Pokémon Crystal, the remakes Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver, and the sequels Pokémon Black & White 2 and Pokémon Sun & Moon (and its sister games). With the exception of the former, later renditions of the track are also arranged by different composers, such as Shota Kageyama (HG/SS), Hitomi Sato (B2/W2), and Hideaki Kuroda (S/M/US/UM).
