Silly Cat^[1], also known by his nickname on the internet, the Boykisser, is a character created by artist Mauzymice on Twitter. The character and sources related to him are a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel.

Overview[]

Silly Cat is a character by the Twitter artist and animator, Mauzymice. It was mostly used for practicing animation on Flipnote Studio and originally did not have a name until some time later.^[1] On November 9th, 2022, a Reddit user u/lilillillie would post a caption GIF using one of their animations with the caption, "this is how u look saying that shit" on r/196.^[2] It wouldn't gain much attention until around January 2023, when an anonymous Discord user would make another caption GIF using Funny Caption Bot with one of Mauzymice's animations.

The GIF would later be edited by a Twitter user @PinkDeerfox on January 10th, 2023.^[3] After this, Silly Cat would gain a popular following, with various memes utilizing other GIFs made by Mauzymice, as well as other artworks and fan-arts of the character made by other artists, such as @zylenooo and @BerriBluBerry. This also includes GIFs that aren't related to Silly Cat, such as Mauzymice's boyfriend character, Lyan, and an anonymous cat character seen in one of Mauzymice's many animations.^[4]^[5]

However, due to the infamy spread across the internet, Silly Cat, now more widely recognized as Boykisser, began to gain negative attention for both itself and Mauzymice. With various animated depictions of Silly Cat dying and hate towards the original artist, this resulted in Mauzymice locking their account after people spread false information in regards of their past. Despite this, the character would gain a following community regardless, who enjoy to make different portayals of the character and relate with him.

Songs[]

"Boykisser (song)" (or "Boy Kisser" on streaming releases) is a song by YouTuber and composer Studi01 based on the Boykisser meme, and was released on YouTube on July 7, 2023. The song contains visuals of various animations made by prominent Silly Cat artists, such as @zylenooo, @BerriBluBerry, and Mauzymice themselves, as well as samples of the "meow" sample from Mario Paint's music composer, used in the "solo" part. "Boykisser (song)" is currently the second most viewed upload by the musician and would later see YTPMV-styled fan songs based on the original, to which Studi01 would notice the usage, creating playlist on their channel, to categorize the fan-made edits of the song.

On October 27, 2023, animator Kuowonn posted a short animation of Silly Cat to the song "Dubidubidu" by Christell to their Twitter account, before quickly going viral. Kuowonn has since deactivated their social media accounts, but reposts of the animation and memes redrawing the animation to represent other characters have gone viral on both YouTube and TikTok.

Rips[]

The first rip to feature Boykisser-related content was "Main Theme - Escape From The Boykisser", uploaded on November 30, 2023 during the "Goomba Got Back" Day event. However, the first rip that featured the character of Boykisser in-video was "Boykisser, Pomni, & Gegagedigedagedago but it's Famous Console Startups" on April 1, 2024.

Rips related to Boykisser have used many different sources, both audio and visual, to represent the meme. "Boykisser (song)" by Studi01 is frequently used, as well as Mario Paint's "meow" sample. "Dubidubidu" by Christell has also been used to represent Boykisser, but many uses of the song are instead references to the Chipi Chipi Chapa Chapa Cat meme, which rose to prominence on TikTok shortly after Kuowonn's animation started going viral. The character would also frequently being paired with Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus and Gegagedigedagedago in reference to the "Famous Console Startups" rip. The character would later see a gain in frequency during the aformentioned April Fools' and the Gegagedigedagedago-ver events.

Additionally, the channel would rip tracks from four fan-games, those being Doom II: Boykisser Mod, ESCAPE FROM BOYKISSER, A Date with Boykisser!, and Escape From The Boykisser, the last of which serves as a joke game for rips featuring "Boykisser (song)".

The rip "Acidjazzed evening - VLDC12" implies that Silly Cat is in a gay relationship with Desmond the Moon Bear.
Boykisser has a YouTube channel, which contains two unlisted playlists, each containing various videos related to himself, and his friends. Each of these playlists were discovered through unused text in the playable YouTube Shorts: Nugget Invasion Flash games.
