"Burger King Foot Lettuce" refers to the meme centered around both a scandal of a 4chan user working at a Burger King standing in two bins of lettuce and the subsequent coverage of the event by the YouTube channel Top15s for its stilted narration from the channel's creator, Chills. This has also become a minor meme used in some rips on the SiIvaGunner channel.
On July 16, 2012, a 4chan user, who appears to be a Burger King employee, uploaded a photo with his feet, with shoes on, in a plastic bin of lettuce, with the caption: "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King." Later, various other users figured out the location of the photo in question and contacted news outlets about this image, which later had the employee fired for doing such a heinous act.
On November 11, 2017, a video titled “Top 15 Mysteries Solved by 4Chan” was uploaded to YouTube by Top15s, a channel dedicated to posting countdown lists of various topics. People on the internet found the speaker's tone and cadence out-of-place and awkward, prompting many to make remixes using the video and the transcript of the segment:
Number 15: Burger king foot lettuce. The last thing you'd want in your Burger King burger is someone's foot fungus. But as it turns out, that might be what you get. A 4channer uploaded a photo anonymously to the site showcasing his feet in a plastic bin of lettuce. With the statement: "This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King." Admittedly, he had shoes on, but that's even worse.
The post went live at 11:38 PM on July 16, and a mere 20 minutes later, the Burger King in question was alerted to the rogue employee. At least, I hope he's rogue. How did it happen? Well, the BK employee hadn't removed the Exif data from the uploaded photo, which suggested the culprit was somewhere in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. This was at 11:47. Three minutes later at 11:50, the Burger King branch address was posted with wishes of happy unemployment. 5 minutes later, the news station was contacted by another 4channer. And three minutes later, at 11:58, a link was posted: BK's "Tell us about us" online forum. The foot photo, otherwise known as exhibit A, was attached. Cleveland Scene Magazine contacted the BK in question the next day. When questioned, the breakfast shift manager said "Oh, I know who that is. He's getting fired." Mystery solved, by 4chan. Now we can all go back to eating our fast food in peace.
The meme first appeared in the "ONBS Broadcast - Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness" rip. Soon after, it began appearing in various rips; one of the most notable ones is "Sayo-nara (Unused Reveal Mix) - Doki Doki Literature Club!", an edit of Etika's reaction to a scene in the game featuring a glitchy version of the Burger King Foot Lettuce video.
