Game Genie is a video game cheat cartridge developed by Codemasters and released by Camerica and Galoob for the NES in 1990. The cartridges temporarily modify data from the inserted game cartridges to do things that are otherwise unintended by the original game developers, including skipping levels and accessing inaccessible functionality. Due to the success of the original cheat cartridge, later variants would later be released for the SNES, Game Boy, Sega Genesis and Sega Game Gear.
