Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles is a game created by combining separate releases Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles.

The two games were developed and published by Sega on Sega Genesis/Sega Mega Drive in 1994, with "lock-on technology" being used to combine them into a single game, although they could be played separately.

Sonic 3's composers are Michael Jackson, Brad Buxer, Cirocco Jones, Bobby Brooks, Darryl Ross, Geoff Grace, Doug Grigsby, Sachio Ogawa, Tatsuyuki Maeda, Jun Senoue, Tomonori Sawada, Masayuki Nagao, Miyoko Takaoka and Masanori Hikichi. Sonic & Knuckles's composers are Sachio Ogawa, Tatsuyuki Maeda, Jun Senoue, Howard Drossin, Masayuki Nagao and Masanori Hikichi.

The game was also released on Windows in 1997, and was planned to be ported to iOS/Android by Christian "Taxman" Whitehead. However, it has not been done due to legal issues surrounding the game's music.

Michael Jackson joke Edit

A running gag on the channel is that every rip from this game credits Michael Jackson as the composer in the description, likely making fun of the misconception that he did the entire soundtrack. While he and a large team are known to have taken part in composing this game's music, it is not known who composed which songs for the most part.

This gag is inverted in some rips from Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, which have the description credit every composer for Sonic 3 & Knuckles except for Michael Jackson and a few minor composers such as Tomonori Sawada.

SK Hydrocity Zone (Act 2) - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, a BotanicSage fake-out rip, credits the composer as "BotanicSage, Michael Jackson", playing along with two running gags at once. Competition Menu (Nov 3, 1993 prototype) - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles credits it as "Michael. Jackson." instead of "Michael Jackson", implicitly referencing that the game's Nov 3, 1993 prototype seems to have been before his alleged involvement in the game's music.
