The thumbnail used for the game references the plot of Super Mario Sunshine. The starting area of the game, Delfino Airstrip, is covered in pink, yellow, orange, and white goop that Mario must clean up to progress. The island's Shine Gate has its huge Shine Sprite covered in black goop, that can be cleaned if the player is able to reach up to it. However, due to Mario's disappearance, the logo has all of the goop intact, with the black goop inside Mario's name, implying no one was able clean up the island in his absence.
Unlike rips of Super Mario Sunshine, none of the rips for Super M̸̌̊a̴͛̿█̸͌̑i̵̛͊█̷̾̓ Sunshine have the thumbnail fade in from white, both including the widescreen (i.e. "Isle Delfino" upload from 2020) and the stretch Gamecube thumbnail (i.e.: "Secret Course: Sky & Sea"), or have to logo under a white background (i.e. "Shine!").
