The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a video game developed and published by Nintendo on Nintendo 64 in 1998. The game also received a port on Nintendo GameCube, titled Ocarina of Time Master Quest, in 2003, on the iQue Player in 2003, on the Wii Virtual Console in 2007, on the Wii U Virtual Console in 2015 and an enhanced remake on the Nintendo 3DS, titled The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, in 2011.

Overview[]

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an action-adventure game refining most of what its predecessors established (such as the dual world from A Link to the Past) but for the first time in a 3D environment. Much like Super Mario 64 released a couple of years earlier, Ocarina of Time was considered a masterpiece, a perfect transition from 2D to 3D, and is still one of the most influential game of all time. It got a direct sequel on the same system, Majora's Mask.

One young boy from the Kokiri Forest, named Link, is awakened by the fairy Navi because the great Deku Tree, Kokiri' protector, summoned him. He informs him that a great evil is threatening the land of Hyrule and that he must warn Princess Zelda. When he meets her, the princess informs him that he is heir to the Triforce of Courage, and that Ganondorf of the Gerudo tribe is plotting a scheme to steal the Triforce. Link will then embark in a journey across space and even time to save Hyrule, but appearances are sometimes deceiving...

The soundtrack composed by series' veteran Koji Kondo is as beloved as the game, featuring some classic tunes from the previous games while introducing new fan favorites such as "Lost Woods", "Windmill Hut", and "Gerudo Valley". "Zelda's Lullaby" would eventually become a staple of the series as Princess Zelda's leitmotif, and the dungeons all use ambiance music, providing a unique and oppressing mood to them.
