The instruments are largely arranged into "Want You Gone" from Portal 2. Playing off the melodic similarities between the two tracks, the melody starts off only subtly differing from the actual Cave Story theme song before the differences become more obvious. At 1:18, 1:51, 3:27, and 4:00, the melody incorporates parts of the song "The Chocolate Factory" from the VeggieTales episode "Rack, Shack and Benny", continuing a running gag of Cave Story rips featuring VeggieTales songs. At 1:42 and 3:51, an instrument plays part of "Meet the Flintstones" and at 1:46 and 3:55 the same instrument plays the first four notes of "The Nutshack" before returning to its original melody from the advertised track.
