They believed themselves to actually be competing at first and landed an interview with Meowth (more accurately, a second attempt after MissingNo.'s hallucinations terrorized the Studio staff). They were also kidnapped and killed by Monokuma in a game of Lie or Die, and tried to help secure Mr. Bean's safety after leaving the hospital before being run over by a 1972 Reliant Regal. After every assault, the team comes back anyway, through the mythical power of the UNO Reverse Card.
During the actual contestants' final boss battle against Unrestrained HyperCam 2, the team, despite their shenanigans, helped Meowth and Wobbuffet keep the Gaylord Hotel guests inside and away from harm.
