Doki Doki Literature Club! is a visual novel made by Team Salvato. On the SiIvaGunner channel, Doki Doki Literature Club! is a meme that has appeared in rips since the game's release.

Overview[]

Despite appearing to be a simple dating sim, Doki Doki Literature Club! is actually a psychological horror game which involves scenes of suicide, blood, and even fourth-wall-breaking events. Released on September 22, 2017 as the first independent project of former Project M developer Dan Salvato, the game quickly gained a cult following for its surprising twist and memorable characters. The game's soundtrack features a handful of simple tunes in keeping with its cutesy facade, and is mainly comprised of variations on the game's main theme. "Your Reality", the lyrical version of the main theme played during the credits, is generally the most well-remembered of the bunch.

Rips[]

The game was first referenced in the Season 2 rip "Title Screen - Super Mario Bros. 2" on October 9, 2017. It would later be used as a joke in several The SilvaGunner Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special: Part II rips, and would again be used frequently during the start of Season 3. Since then, the game's soundtrack has continued to pop up in rips occasionally, and it eventually recieved a dedicated channel event celebrating its third anniversary in 2020. In the lore, the game's presence on the channel is represented by Monika.
