Gegagedigedagedago (also known as the ROBLOX Chicken Nugget, Omega Nugget, or simply Nugget) is a meme originating from TikTok, which involves a Chicken Nugget being deepfaked into singing "Cotton Eye Joe" by Rednex and "Gegagedigedagedago" by Razi Irawani. Both the character and the songs associated with it are major memes on the SiIvaGunner channel.

Background[]

Origin[]

"Cotton-Eyed Joe" (or "Cotton-Eye Joe") is an American folk song that was popular before the American Civil War, although its origins beyond that are undocumented. In 1994, it gained newfound popularity when it given was a Eurodance remix as "Cotton Eye Joe" by the novelty act Rednex. The song would received varies remixes, as well many re-releases in the years after its original release. One of those remixes was a cover created by TikToker @razioff, full name Razi Irawani, in 2023 with the post "Cotton Eye Joe #cottoneyejoe". This post contained the cover of Rednex's song with gibberish-laden lyrics, which lead to the cover becoming known as "Gegagedigedagedago".

As a result of the popularity of the cover, users on TikTok would start making varies remixes of the song. One of these remixes featurd an edit of the official McNugget plushie, which was made for the Travis Scott X McDonalds collaboration, with the Man Face from ROBLOX's Man bundle being deepfaked into singing @razioff's "Cotton-Eyed Joe" cover. While the original creator of the meme is unknown, one of the earliest known depiction of it was the video "#ifeelgood #coems🤑 #roblox #phonk #amongus #amogus #coems🤑🤑🤑 #coemsdollars🤑💵" by @wenonugget, in which the nugget is deepfaked into singing "I Got You (I Feel Good)" by James Brown instead.

Popularization and Depictions[]

After the creation of the edit, various TikTokers and YouTubers would create shorts, memes, and many other depictions of the edit, adopting the names "Gegagedigedagedago", the ROBLOX Chicken Nugget and Omega Nugget to refer to the singing MCNugget. However, its popularity would eventually lead to it gaining nonvirility thanks to content farms creators, who would utilize the meme in Brainrot content videos alongside other popular memes and sources of the time, such as Skibidi Toilet, Hawk Tuah, Generation Z slogan, and more.

Despite this, the meme would gain a few noticeable depictions over the internet during 2024-2025, one of which would revive the meme and make it popular outside of its "Brainrot" status.

GoLub[]

GoLub is one of the content farm channels on YouTube that makes various videos based on memes that were popular at the time, such as Smurf Cat, We Have Come For Your Nectar, and Dr. Livesey Walk.^[1] After the popularization of "Gegagedigedagedago", GoLub would release a video of the same name on February 4th, 2024, which features three characters being deepfaked into singing "Cotton Eye Joe", including the nugget himself. These three character would then be captured by an Egg Bandit and given to be eaten by Nikocado Avocado.

The aforementioned video would explode in popularity, which lead to GoLub making more videos and memes related to "Gegagedigedagedago", alongside other memes that GoLub would frequently reference. The video would turn into a main series focusing Gegagedigedagedago and the Omegas as being cowboys in the old west; having a structured lore told in the short animated videos, and introducing new characters that would share the same face as Gegagedigedagedago's.

GoLub's videos would also frequently pair up Gegagedigedagedago with other memes and sources, with Nikocado Avocado and the E E Ei meme^[2] being the most popular pairings. Other content farms in the same style as GoLub would also make similar "Gegagedigedagedago" videos, with one of them being the channel Gchmch that introduced new characters utilizing the Chicken Drumstick from GoLub's first Gegagedigedagedago video.

Max Design Pro[]

Max Design Pro is an animated, content farm-like channel created on May 1th, 2020 on YouTube. While originally created to make Photoshop tutorial videos,^[3] the channel would transition into making short animations by 2022,^[4] with later videos primarily focusing more on Max the Monkey and his family, as well featuring characters from popular franchises and memes from 2022-2024.^[5] On May 17th, 2024, Max Design Pro would post a tweet "Gegagedigedagedago! Nuggets and Max are saving Life! Part 8 #doctor #funny #Gegagedigedagedago" on his Twitter. This tweet would become infamous among the platform's users, given that Max committed a war crime by utilizing the Red Cross symbol in the video without being given permission to use it.^[6]

Additionally, Max Design Pro would receive criticism over his style of content, with YouTubers like TheTalentlessWriter, Ryth and AugustTheDuck making videos on the topic. Despite the main focus of the shorts not changing much, the channel would become much more tame and started expanding more on the characters' lore. This would also result into Twitter users actually enjoying Max's content, with various users making fan-arts, original characters, and even a fan-server on Discord dedicated to the channel.^[7]

TWIDDLEFINGER[]

TWIDDLEFINGER is a Friday Night Funkin' mod created by Gibz, under the alias of MAXPROLOVER988, and features a self-titled song composed by kiwiquest and headdzo ft. Wrathstetic. The mod is based on the Aethos-style of mods, which was named after another Friday Night Funkin' mod, SML Movie: Jeffy's Endless Aethos!. The style of mods are based on the "anonymous composer/mid-song lyrics" trend, which often features an anonymous composer making horror-style songs themed around media that wouldn't often have the horror-aesthetic in it, with the full lyric vocals appearing mid-song.^{[Aethos 1]} This is mostly based on the song "Silly Billy" from the mod Hit Single, which follows the exact same premise.

TWIDDLEFINGER is no different from the style, as it's based on the "Max Design Pro" channel, involves the Nugget having to fight and rap against an evil version of Max the Monkey, and features a song with lyrical vocals sung by Wrathstetic appearing mid-song. The mod would become very popular among the Friday Night Funkin' community, resulting in creation of more Aethos-style mods as well the creation of the sub-style of mods called as the TWIDDLEFINGER-Style. The mod would also gain attention from Max Design Pro himself, who canonized the character inside the animated shorts after its popularization.^[8]

The first appearance of Gegagedigedagedago on the channel was in the video "Boykisser, Pomni, & Gegagedigedagedago but it's Famous Console Startups", which was uploaded during the April Fools' Day 2024 event. Additionally, the song associated with the meme, "Cotton Eye Joe", appeared earlier with the rip "Inkopolis News (Unused Mix) - Splatoon" on February 27, 2016.

"Cotton Eye Joe" itself wouldn't be too much of a prominent joke, since it would only appear in two more rips uploaded in 2016 ("Last Goodbye - Undertale", and "Rancid Raceway/Nearburg - Nicktoons Racing (GBA)") and 2023 ("One-Winged Angel (Beta Version) - Final Fantasy VII", and "Athletic Theme (PAL Version) (Beta Mix) - Super Mario World"). One of these rip, "One-Winged Angel (Beta Version) - Final Fantasy VII", would gain noticeable populariy after Vinesauce Vinny shared the rip during a livestream of Corruption Stockpile while trying to corrupt Kingdom Hearts.^[9]

After the April Fools' Day 2024 event, "Cotton Eye Joe" would be a prominent source alongside the cover version by @razioff, with most of the rips featuring them being mashups, melodyswaps, and visual rips. Addtionally, the ROBLOX Chicken Nugget character would frequently appear in visual rips, alongside the prominent usage of other characters from GoLub's series and the art-style of Max Design Pro's animations. Other notable usage of the meme includes:

The frequent pairing of "Cotton Eye Joe" with "The Amazing Digital Circus Theme" and/or "Boykisser" by Studi01, referencing the relationship between Gegagedigedagedago, Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus, and Silly Cat in "Boykisser, Pomni, & Gegagedigedagedago but it's Famous Console Startups" and the confirmation of the trio being best friends in the Bad Ending screen for the "TWIDDLEFINGER - TWIDDLEFINGER" rip.
The usual sound effects used by Max Design Pro, those being: "WHAT?!" from JonTronShow's "Anti Drug Games" video, "Help me! HELP, ME!" from Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain, and the Like Timer Sound Effect (which utilizes the Clock Ticking Sound Effect, The Green Screen Subscribe Button Template, and "SFX: Mushroom" from Super Mario World. These sound effects are often paired together in reference to Gegagedigedagedago, sometimes even using them to recreate the short video "Gegagedigedagedago! Max and Nuggets Dancing in the Classroom!".
Visuals and lore relationships from GoLub's Gegagedigedagedago video would be used in visual rips, alongside the utilization of characters that were made in all of GoLub's videos about Gegagedigedagedago, including the main series itself. Sound effects usually associated by GoLub are also sometimes referenced, but less in comparison to the sounds used by Max Design Pro.
Gegagedigedagedago would sometimes be featured in promotional event images, banners, and even the profile pictures of the channel.

Gegagedigedagedago was later given focus during its own channel event and story arc, with the The Gegagedigedagedago-ver event and e∩Ω respectively. Furthermore, Gegagedigedagedago would gain minor relevancy to the grander lore of the channel in the PAINT branch of The Susie ARG. During the GRAND branch of the ARG, Gegagedigedagedago would also appear in the games petrlb's Place, RE:SPH, and the self-focus game YouTube Shorts: Nugget Invasion.

As a Character (in e∩Ω)[]

Gegagedigedagedago is the main protagonist of the e∩Ω arc, first appearing in the arc with the rip "Sand Canyon 1 (Sigma Mix) - Kirby's Dream Land 3" uploaded during the Gegagedigedagedago-ver event. In this rip, Gegagedigedagedago gets in the way of The numberphile running as he does in "Main Theme (Alternate) - e". However, the character wouldn't have another major appearance in the arc until the Gegagedigedagedago vs. The numberphile event with the rip "Game with Rabbit Set Up (Alternate Version) - Othello World".

During the Mr. Incredible Becoming Uncanny-style story of the rip, Gegagedigedagedago tells a story about how he was walking by until he saw a bunch of people gathered around a mysterious brown, crumpled and burned thing that turns out to be the lifeless body of Omega Crab Lays. After discovering the body, he asks his friend Hamood Habibi, who was also inside the crowd, to investigate what happened. Hamood would explain to him that Omega Crab Lays came out dead from an "e" portal, to which Gegagedigedagedago replies that he remembered Charlie, The Steak going through the same mysterious portal.

With this information, Gegagedigedagedago and his team of Omegas would prepare to take revenge on The numberphile and Charlie, The Steak for the death of Omega Crab Lays, as showcased in the rips "Tombstone & Nugget Town - Wanted" and "Tsurupettan (Beta Mix) - Umineko no Naku Koro ni". In the rip "Thrash Machine (Beta Version) - Deltarune", he and Young Gedagedi use the game "omegarune" to make a machine for the battle, alongside creating a copy of the "e" tile that The numberphile uses since the "Gameplay - 2048" rip to grant them access to the coordinate plane.

In the video "Golden Ratio - e", Gegagedigedagedago and his Omegas uses the "e" tile to access the coordinate plane to confront The numberphile and Charlie and avenge their fallen friend Omega Lays. After a long battle which ends with a Friday Night Funkin'-style rap battle, the Omegas end up being the victors with The numberphile being killed and Charlie fleeing the scene. Despite succesfully avenging his deceased friend, Gegagedigedagedago entered a depressive state due to being forced to take The numberphile's life.

During The Susie ARG with the rips "The Problem - e" and "The Solution - e", him and his Omegas would take a look at The numberphile's computer. They discovered that The numberphile received an e-mail warning him of his demise from a yet-to-be-revealed Susie and accidentally received another e-mail, that being 9S' thank you message to Eggnog. A pop-up appeared where the Omegas needed to enter a T-coordinate in order to forward the e-mail to the right date. With the hints from the e-mail and the help from the audience, Gegagedigedagedago deciphered that the e-mail was supposed to be sent on January 31, 2017 at 9:30AM PST, translating it to 1485883800 in T-coordinates.

The message was sent back in time to that date for Eggnog to find, which is what caused him to go find 2B and help her in the first place. After sending the e-mail, the group would receive another e-mail sent by Susie, encouraging Gegagedigedagedago to forgive himself and tells him it might not be too late to save numberphile. This message caused him to break his stupor and leads to events of the announcement video "It's time for a feast...", where he invites his friends for a Gedagsgiving feast filled with a newfound hope for the future.

In "News of Jay's Death - The Ignition Factor, Gegagedigedagedago and his Roasted Chicken friend use an "e" portal to travel to the depths of hell to redeem the numberphile. At the bottom of an infinite hole, Gegagedigedagedago comes across the soul of his former nemesis and gives him a handshake. The numberphile is then revived by merging with the infinite staircase the Omegas used to reach the hole's bottom and thanks them for reviving him. He then gives them an "e" tile and jumps away, with the Omegas generating a portal with the "e" tile to leave hell.

Gegagedigedagedago in the rips is often singing the @razioff's "Cotton Eye Joe" cover to communicate with others, mostly as a "gibberish" language. Other characters would also have unique pattern of language, usually singing "Cotton Eye Joe" as well (with the exception of characters like the Turkey, who communicates with a burp sound effect instead). Despite mostly being used to reflect GoLub's series, the ROBLOX game petrlb's Place would give Gegagedigedagedago an understandable and translatable language using the lyrics of raizoff's "Cotton Eye Joe" cover.

Scattered across the map and obby are various Gegagedigedagedagoe nuggets and despite their their dialogue reflecting the gibberish seen in raizoff's original song, it was discovered that the texts can be translated into English by using the A1Z26 cipher, as hinted by the Gedagedi-Explainer 7000. Each of the syllable pairs spoken by the Gegagedigedagedagoes (for example: Gege, Geda, Gedi, Gego, and so on) can be changed into a two digit number (00, 01, 02, 03, and so on). Putting these numbers through an A1Z26 cipher, where the letter A is equivalent to the numbers, would give the letters from A-Z for each of the first 26 syllable pairs to decode the language.

Furthermore, the avatar for the Pajama Day event features the Joke-Explainer holding a plushie of Gegagedigedagedago.
