Goomba Got Back

"Goomba Got Back" is a music parody of "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot, produced by YouTuber Gaijin Goombah (Michael Sundman) and the Composer The Living Tombstone. It is a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel.

On July 23, 2013, Gaijin Goombah uploaded a video to his channel titled "Big Ol' Game Exchange Update! New Shows, New Content!", where he announced, among other things, that the characters of him and his wife would be using updated designs. Many people were critical of Akiterra's new design because her breasts were noticeably more exposed and many felt that it was an abnormal or even disgusting choice to attempt to sexualize a Goomba. Later that day, Gaijin Goombah responded to this criticism in a video titled "Defending T&A - Goombah's Real Talk". In this video, he expressed his frustration with excessive violence in media being acceptable in American culture while excessive sexualization in media is not.

In January 12, 2014, the song "Goomba Got Back" was uploaded to GaijinGoomba YouTube channel. It was a parody of "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-A-Lot, with the direction production made by GaijinGoomba, while the main composition was made by The Living Tombstone, with the artists for the visuals by The Gecko Ninja, Serena (Gabby) Midori, and FreeFootage4You. The video itself was yet a references to the criticism of the character, with the start of the video showing off the comments of the criticism and the lyrics referencing the same topic.

The Living Tombstone responded in one of the re-uploads on the comment in regrads of how he participated in. The song was a request made by GaijinGoomba, who wanted a remix of the song as a parody. With The Living Tombstone response for it was "fuck yeah! an excuse to do a remix of Baby Got Back! I love this song!". The same also commented to be proud to make the music, despite was made in a totally different intention it was from his view.^[1]

The music and the video was met with similar backlash and criticism, being eventually removed from the channel completely. With the SoundCloud releases being taken down aswell. However, re-uploads of the song still exist online.

"Goomba Got Back" was first referenced by SiIvaGunner during the stream "Let's Play: 7 Grand Dad - Episode 2", which happened on June 17, 2016, where the "Goomba Got Back" video appeared several times during the stream. It then made its proper channel debut in the rip "Megasparkle Goomba - Paper Mario: Sticker Star" on July 26, 2016.

Following this rip, "Goomba Got Back" has been referenced in various rips throughout the channel's history, with the most notable being the recognition of it being a meme on the VvvvvaVvvvvvr channel, directly referenced when Gaijin Goomba (including "Here Comes Pacman" and "woodsans") appeared on the fake CCC episode "Treacherous Addiction". The video would also appear in the Undertale playlist with unrelated re-uploads and severals edits with "Goomba Got Back".

On November 30, 2023, Goomba Got Back Day took place, a channel event in which all included rips featured "Goomba Got Back". Later, the album GiIva Got Back released in the 10 year anniversary of the meme, compiling various "Goomba Got Back" rips. Since the event, various rips featuring the song were uploaded during Season 7.

I love this song!" after I finished making the song and sending it to him he made this video with an animator and he put it on his channel and the rest is historyyy

I'm proud of every piece of music I get to do including this one, even if it turns out to not work or have a totally different intention in the end than I expected, I'm still happy I managed to finish it and move on to the next thing. I personally don't mind if this became part of cringe culture, me and friends would sometimes view cringe videos and then laugh at this one too and go "oh yeah lol, I was part of that", if this made you enjoy it from that aspect atleast then I'm happy haha" (Source).
