"irony", composed by Kz of Livetune and performed by ClariS, is the opening theme song from the first season of the anime series Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai (aka Oreimo). On SiIvaGunner's channel, it is used both in mashups and melody change rips. It was one of the primary jokes in tracks on the album Your Onii-Chan's Favorite Rips!, which also featured cover art of Kirino Kōsaka, a character originating from Oreimo.
Overview[]
"irony" is the debut single of ClariS, released on October 20, 2010 by SME Records. It was created for use as the opening of Oreimo after the anime series' producer wished for the duo to sing it.[1]
Rips[]
On SiIvaGunner's channel, "irony" is a song used in numerous rips, most famously "E.G.G.M.A.N. (CD Version) - Sonic Adventure 2", a mashup using the instrumental and some vocals of the song with the game track's vocals. The song's melody is also used in rips such as "Home Town - Mega Man Battle Network" and the medley rip "Polar Festival - Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll".
Ore no Imouto, the anime that "irony" originated from, was described as an example of Flustered Fernando's "controversial content" in the deprecated version of the Haltmann's Archives file on the subject before being replaced by Pupa, a more controversial source.
On December 23, 2017, Your Onii-Chan's Favorite Rips! was announced through the video "An ironic Announcement", which used "irony" mashed up and melody-changed with several Flustered Fernando jokes, as well as Meet the Flintstones. The album itself included a large proportion of the rips featuring the song up to that point.
