The kazoo is a musical instrument which adds a buzzing sound to the player's voice. The player hums and creates air pressure, making the kazoo's membrane vibrate. The player can adjust the pitch and volume of their hums to create different sounds.

The kazoo is often ridiculed online and it is used ironically on the SiIvaGunner channel.

History Edit

Instruments like the kazoos have been used in Africa for hundreds of years, often for ceremonial purposes. It is believed that Alabama Vest created kazoos in the 1840s but there is no evidence to support this.

The first documented appearance of the instrument was in one of Warren Herbert Frost's patents, issued on January 9, 1883. The modern design was patented by George D. Smith on May 27, 1902.

Rips Edit

In kazoo rips, the music is covered by a choir of kazoos (usually played by FivdaAurion). Most kazoo rips are from the game Crypt of the NecroDancer. These rips are often met with a negative reception.

January 28 is known as National Kazoo Day. On this day, every rip contained kazoo jokes.

In The SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis Edit

In "Episode VIII.5 ~A Fragmentary Interlude~", it was revealed that The Voice created the days worth of kazoo rips in an attempt to gain the assistance of an unknown French kazoo enthusiast. The Voice needed the figure's help to take out a resistance group, believing that his inside agent needed backup. The figure agreed, and gave The Voice a button in return for the kazoo rips.

Otamatone Edit

The Otamatone is a similar meme featuring a synthetic device. YouTuber TheReallySullyG made the instrument more well known when he began doing Otamatone covers in February 2017. It has appeared in a few rips, and functions as a joke similarly to the kazoo.
