"Lifelight - SiIvaGunner: King for Another Day" is a high quality rip of "Lifelight" from King for Another Day Tournament.
Contents
The rip is a tribute to the late YouTuber Etika[1], who was originally going to appear as a contestant in the tournament[2] before, shortly before his unfortunate passing, being removed following concerns for his mental health.[3]
The rip is an arrangement of "Lifelight" from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, mashed up with "We Dem Boyz" by Wiz Khalifa and "Ride the Train" by Quad City DJs. The former was used as a "theme song" for Etika, presumably due to his fanbase being called the "Joycon Boyz", and the latter is (presumably) a reference to the "Ride the Smash hype train" mashups by BotanicSage.[4][5]
There are a few samples that reference Etika in-jokes:
- At 2:12, there are voice clips of Pyra, and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 saying "Rex! Get ready for an elemental attack!" and "Now, let's show them what we're really made of!", respectively. This references how Etika was known for being a fan of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
- At 3:42, there is a voice clip of Female Robin saying "Time to tip the scales!" This references Etika's obsession with the "Red Robin" alternate costume in Smash 4.
- At 3:53, there is a Corrin voice clip, this one saying "You ready for this?!"
- At 3:58, there is a noise of a train coming closer, as a reference to the hype train, while Etika's scream from his reaction to the Nintendo Direct of March 8, 2018 can be heard in the background.
