"Main Theme - Mighty No. 9" is a high quality rip of the main theme from Mighty No. 9.
The rip features SiIvaGunner (using the WiseGuy text-to-speech voice) apologizing for not releasing a rip of "Main Theme", and promising they will release it as soon as possible. It doesn't actually contain the main theme of Mighty No. 9.
The apology is a parody of the clarification about the release of the game Mighty No. 9 published on January, 2016. Subtitles/captions are enabled for the full length of the video. A transcript is also written over the thumbnail, except for the last sentence, at 1:31, because the video turns to black. This implies that the last sentence: "(But we already have your money anyway, suckers!)" is hidden from the fans.
The game was originally slated to come out in April 2015 (after a Kickstarter campaign in the fall of 2013). It was then delayed three times and finally came out fourteen months later. This, plus several management mistakes, meant that public opinion had completely turned on the game by the time of its actual release. The last sentence criticizes the crowdfunding model as a whole - since people had already given their money to Keiji Inafune and his team, to a total of 3 845 170 $. That amount of money was seen as wasted.
A real rip of "Main Theme - Mighty No. 9" was released 30 minutes later as "Main Theme (OST Version) - Mighty No. 9". It was bad on purpose, because the game turned to be average. This was the first appearance of mm2wood.mid.
The rip was released the same day the base game came out in North America, June 21, 2016.
This rip and "Main Theme (OST Version) - Mighty No. 9" were collaborations between multiple different members. Matsu Muhō proposed to make an apology video. The text of the apology and the recording of the text-to-voice speech were made by other members, and the video was finally edited and rendered by Matsu Muhō.
To the fans eagerly awaiting the release of Main Theme - Mighty No. 9, Unfortunately, we have an announcement that will be very disappointing to all of you. In preparation for the Feb-- err, June release of Mighty No. 9 we have been working hard with our partners to resolve any ripping issues and converting work necessary to publish Main Theme - Mighty No. 9 on the channel. However, the issues relating to the fair use laws were more critical than expected, and it has become apparent that we will need to delay the rip from its June 21st release date. We have been working up until the very last moment to resolve these issues in order to make the June 21st release, but it has become clear that we no longer have enough time to fix the issues and have everything prepared for release. For this first delay of the rip, we have no excuses for disappointing our fans and especially our bank accounts once more. We want to take this chance to express our sincerest apologies to everyone who has looked forward to the release. Although we are far past our original release date, the release of Main Theme - Mighty No. 9 is still right around the corner. We are all working hard to make sure that we can finish and release the rip to all of our fans as quickly as possible, and ask once more for your support of this project that we have created together over these last few years. (But we already have your money anyway, suckers!)
