"Mask" is a song by Dream. It is also a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel.

Overview

"Mask" is the second single released by Dream, an American YouTuber and streamer who is most well known for creating Minecraft content. The song is about Dream's personal experiences with depression and ADHD, and the effect these disorders had on his own life. The song was released on May 20, 2021, and an animated music video for it was also released on June 8. Both the song and the music video have been widely criticized, with the song's lyrics being described as "basic" and "plain", and the video being scrutinized for its uncanny animation and controversial messages, spawning the "You Are Not Normal" and "Normal Pills" memes.

Six days after "Mask" was released, the YouTube channel We The Sus Music published a parody of the song, titled "Dream - Mask (Official Sus Remix)", in which the lyrics are changed to be about male homosexual intercourse. In contrast to the original song, the parody has been widely praised, with many (often jokingly) calling it better than the original.

Prior to the first appearance of "Mask" on SiIvaGunner, Dream was indirectly referenced in a handful of rips featuring music commonly used in his videos, namely "Trance Music for Racing Game" by Bobby Cole and "Playtime" by Peter Godfrey. The first rip on the channel to feature "Mask" was "Tabloid Jargon - Press Garden Zone Act 1 - Sonic Mania Plus" on June 10, 2021, which features the parody by We The Sus Music. Since then, many rips featuring both the original and the parody have been uploaded, with the two being commonly paired together. Other songs by Dream, such as "Roadtrip" with PmBata and "Change My Clothes" with Alec Benjamin, have also made appearances in rips, albeit less frequently.

"Mask" was also prominently featured in a minor channel event celebrating Dream's twenty-second birthday on August 12, 2021.
