The song was written by Vinton during his time in the army and is based on his own emotional experiences and those of other soldiers.
The song was originally included on Vinton's first vocal album Roses Are Red, it became one of the singer's most well-known and beloved songs, and was later released as a single.
Rips[]
The first rip to feature "Mr. Lonely" on the SiIvaGunner channel was "Froenborg - Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy", uploaded on December 23, 2016. Since then the song has appeared occasionally on the channel, mostly in the form of arrangements. The song has been used annually on Valentine's Day since Season 2, with the first rip in the series being "Home - Undertale". Most of these rips were made by Ahmaykmewsik and some include references to the aforementioned rip.
The association between "Mr. Lonely" and Valentine's Day was acknowledged during The Susie ARG, with "Holiday Spirit [FILE-INT-FOOLS] - Haltmann's Archives" revealing that Mr. Lonely was materialized into the Central Canon Continuum and subjected to research to extract a small amount of Valentine's Spirit.
