My Little Pony is a multimedia franchise that was created in 1981 by Bonnie Zacherle. The fandom for the fourth generation is known for being one of the largest and most dedicated on the internet (especially in its early years), and it has also spread into the SiIvaGunner channel as a meme.

Overview[]

Though the target demographic of Friendship Is Magic was nominally young girls, it achieved a fanbase among 13–35 year old males in the early 2010s. The origin of this group of fans can be traced back to 4chan, where during the show's first season it was suggested as a joke to watch the show.[1] However, the fanbase grew organically as a result of people finding the show genuinely good, contributing to the show's success and longevity. Fans outside the intended demographic are often referred to as "bronies", and have created many fan works inspired by the show, including music.

Rips[]

This is yet another facet of old internet culture SiIvaGunner has decided to call-back to. References to the show can be found in rips reaching as far back as April 2016, such as in "vs. Nega-Wisp Armor - Phase 2 - Sonic Colours (DS)". It started becoming more frequently referenced on the channel around July 2020, and eventually culminated in the Friendship Is Magic 10th Anniversary event.

The most common reference to the show is a soundbite of Trixie's voice actor saying "FUCK!" in her voice (which originates from a leaked outtake), which is often inserted into rips by MLPFun. This is followed by the song "Winter Wrap Up" from the episode of the same name and The Living Tombstone's remix of "Discord" by Eurobeat Brony, which is often used in mashup rips.

In addition to rips that reference Friendship Is Magic and its fan works, a few rips also reference other official media from the My Little Pony franchise. Rips with My Little Pony as the joke also tend to receive a PAL mix name, in reference to the word being synonymous with friend.
