In 2022, the YouTuber RainingKetchup made a series of videos based on OMORI's precursor webcomic, Omoriboy. The series gained more attention after the third episode, "OMORIBOY the SEXY!!! 🔥🔥🔥" , released in September 2022 with the musical number "Redditor Too". In May 2023, UUN4 created "OMORIBOY the PIRATE!!! ☠️☠️☠️", a YTPMV of "Redditor Too" set to "Pirate Island", which subsequently also got popular, rivaling the official RainingKetchup videos. Because of this, "Pirate Island" and "Redditor Too" would both become more popular in YTPMVs and related communities, which was endorsed by RainingKetchup. "OMORIBOY the PIRATE!!! ☠️☠️☠️" was also added to the game Item Asylum as an emote.

The use of "Pirate Island" on SiIvaGunner would pick up in August 2023, after RainingKetchup released the fourth episode of his series, "OMORIBOY the MESSENGER!!! ✉️📬📮", which acknowledged the popularity of the previous episode in YTPMVs, on June 23, 2023. Almost all rips featuring the track are melody change rips. In several of these rips, the melody used is actually the one from "OMORIBOY the PIRATE!!! ☠️☠️☠️", which contains a few extra syllables. Occasionally, "Redditor Too" is directly featured alongside "Pirate Island".
The track was acknowledged one time prior to "OMORIBOY the PIRATE!!! ☠️☠️☠️", in the rip "Pirate Island - Baby Felix Halloween".
