This track is a major meme on the popular SiIvaGunner fan channel TimmyTurnersGrandDad, which is what inspired its use on SiIvaGunner.

TTGD uploaded 69 different rips of the track, with at least one being uploaded every day, from November 20, 2016 up until the end of 2016. This drew many comparisons to SiIvaGunner's various "Slider" rips.
After 2016, the TTGD team decided to ban rips of "Play a Mini-Game!" from the channel, although it would continue to be used as a joke in other TTGD rips. Rips of the song would later be un-banned in 2020.
Then, in January 2018, "Play a Mini-Game! (PAL Version) - Mario Party" was uploaded. This started a minor trend of "Play a Mini-Game!" rips on SiIvaGunner, which were usually one-joke melody changes like most of TTGD's rips. As of February 13, 2021, SiIvaGunner has twelve rips of the song.
Aside from that, it has also been used as a joke in a few medley rips.
