"Puzzle Room" (officially titled "Rhythm Code", was titled "Program Rhythm" on GilvaSunner) is a frequently ripped track from Kirby Planet Robobot that plays in the second level of World 5 "Rhythm Route" In game. It is also a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel, sometimes referred to as "НЕТ" (Russian for "no", pronounced "nyet"; commonly misinterpreted as "het") in reference to the rip "Puzzle Room - Kirby: Planet Robobot", infamous for its shocking content.
In a June 2015 stream[1]Vinesauce Joel played a Russian bootleg Sega Genesis Felix the Cat game. He died and ended up at a continue screen that said:
ПОПЫТОК: 2 ПРОДОЛЖИТЬ?
ДА НЕТ
Translation:
TRIES: 2 CONTINUE?
YES NO
Joel wanted to end the game so he chose "НЕТ", notably mispronouncing it as "hhhhhet". This prompted a game over screen with text reading "ИГРА ОКОНЧЕНА" ("THE GAME IS OVER") and featured a 2011 artwork by artist Kris "Dozign2kill" Balerite titled Felix the Cat Unmasked.[2] The artwork depicts Felix ripping off his own face, revealing a one-eyed skull underneath, with blood spilling from his torn-off skin. Joel's shocked reaction became somewhat of a meme among the Vinesauce community.
On June 18, 2016, just a few videos into the reboot, SiIvaGunner uploaded a rip called "Puzzle Room - Kirby: Planet Robobot" which was intended as a reference to Joel's aforementioned stream. It featured the music from the bootleg Felix the Cat game's continue and game over screens, as well as the words "ДА" and "НЕТ" with annotated links above them. Clicking on the "ДА" annotation led to the music video "Russkij Pusskij" by Carlito, while clicking on "НЕТ" led to a shock video of a "harlequin baby" (a baby with harlequin-type ichthyosis, a genetic skin disorder that results in thickened skin and various deformities). The rip itself ended with a dark-skinned hand clicking on "НЕТ" and a picture of the harlequin baby with the Hypernova Yourself! filter applied.
The inclusion of such shock imagery resulted in severe backlash from the SiIvaGunner community. The SiIvaGunner team deleted the rip after a few hours and removed its creator Le Ruse Bird from the managerial team for a few days.[3] The situation was then addressed with several out-of-character tweets by @GiIvaSunner,[4][5] followed by a video titled "Apology.". The tweets and video (assumed to be made by Chaze the Chat) state that the rip was uploaded without the consent of anyone else on the team, that it wasn't supposed to be part of the reboot, and it didn't represent what the channel stood for.
A few days later on June 21, the rip "Continue? - Felix the Cat" was uploaded, which contains the first use of "Rhythm Code"/Puzzle Room as a rip joke, referencing the so-called 'Puzzle Room incident'. Since then, SiIvaGunner has used the song "Rhythm Code" as a joke in over 200 rips. It is mostly used in melody change rips, usually with the beginning melody appearing in medley rips. Other references to the incident besides the use of the song "Rhythm Code" are less frequent, but generally involve the use of "Continue?", "Russkij Pusskij", or Felix the Cat as a character.
Trivia[]
The meme was alluded to on the actual GilvaSunner channel, where SBFR's remix of "Rhythm Code" was given the title "нет головоломки?".
The infamous rip that started the meme is actually the second appearance of the Felix the Cat bootleg game on the channel: the first is "Main Theme - Power Rangers: Time Force (GBA)", uploaded two days earlier.
"I'll start with Ruse first. Um... yeah, I ended up, after the Puzzle Room incident, um, I ended up, um, removing him from the backroom for a short time, and, um, like, I think it was a – just a few days after it happened, he apologized and he was like, "I promise it won't happen again. I, um – I thought it was – I thought that would've been suitable for the channel, but it turns out I was wrong and, um, I promise that won't ever happen again," and I believed him, so I gave him a second chance, and he end—, he ended up being a really good ripper [...]"
