RV & Terrance's rap originates from a 2009 Reese's Puffs advertisement where the Reese's Puffs cereal brings a concert to a child's house. In 2010, a year after its release, YouTube user TajhMusic uploaded an extended version of the advertisement under the title "Reese's Puffs Rap Video ft. Tajh Bellow".
Around 2012[precision needed], this rap was used as the basis for Reese's Puffs Dance Battle on the Reese's Puffs website, which contained the rap's vocal stem.[1] In December 2014, the Bandcamp account "Sean Phoenix the Sultan of Slams" released its first album, Reese's Puffs Core. Reese's Puffs Core consisted of a collection of mashups with the vocals of "Reese's Puffs Rap". All of the contributors for the album are SoundCloud artists, including Cryptrik and MF PICKLE-O, who later contributed to SiIvaGunner. Following the release of Reese's Puffs Core, the rap would become a popular in SoundCloud mashups, which caused its popularity to spread outside of SoundCloud.
