On September 30, 2016, the SiIvaGunner channel has announced that it will stop uploading rips,<ref name="end">"''the nutshack theme but the first nutshack is replaced with me ending the channel: http://youtu.be/YuFYGf_yKY8?a via @YouTube''" –@SiIvaGunner, [https://twitter.com/GiIvaSunner/status/782082749154877440 1 October 2016]</ref> but since then has continued uploading regularly, even celebrating the anniversary of the channel on January 9th.

On January 4, 2019, the SiIvaGunner channel has been “terminated because we received multiple third-party claims of copyright infringement regarding material the user posted.” The team addressed it during the [[MAGFest 2019 SiIvaGunner panel]], and a Q&A session at 9:00 pm EST afterward<ref>[https://twitter.com/GiIvaSunner/status/1081259858328879104 Tweet]. @GiIvaSunner. == Character ==

SiIvaGunner has the same avatar as GiLvaSunner (glitch art of Antinous), except it has an eyepatch and horn similar to Venom Snake from ''Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain''. This is a reference to his injury as part of his channel being terminated.

He rarely comments on the videos, saying sometimes "I only upload high quality video game rips." to people who insinuated that a rip was low quality. The description of his videos is "Please read the channel description". It is a reference to when the channel description used to read "All uploads are submitted by a small group of content creators".

When he releases an album, he usually complains that the names of his high quality rips don't match the names of the tracks. In high quality rips such as "[[Futari Happiness (NOZOMI Mix) - Love Live! School idol festival]]", he is voiced by the text-to-speech voice Wiseguy from VoiceForge<ref>[http://www.voiceforge.com/demo Voiceforge.com]</ref>.

On October 1, 2017, the origins of the SiIvaGunner character were explained in the high quality rip named "[[The Creation of GiIvaSunner (FILE-01) - Haltmann's Archives|The Creation of GiIvaSunner [FILE-01] - Haltmann's Archives]]". The rip reveals that GiIvaSunner was carved from a meteor that crash-landed outside of the Tokyo Marunouchi Station after the meteor was bought by an unknown man for 562315000¥. GiIvaSunner comes to life, kills his creator and hijacks his computer.

"I only upload high quality video game rips."
―SiIvaGunner

SiIvaGunner[note 1] (typically /ˈsiːvəɡʌnər/), originally known as (and still referred to as such on Bandcamp) GiIvaSunner[note 1] (typically /ˈgiːvəsʌnər/), is a collaborative YouTube channel[1] made as a parody account to GilvaSunner, a video game music ripping channel.

Under a character of the same name, SiIvaGunner's videos consist of bait and switch videos, with jokes, memes or parodies of video game music.

History

"Season 1" (January 2016 - October 2016)

The original channel, GiIvaSunner, was made on January 9th, 2016 by Chaze the Chat. After creating what would become the first rips, he wanted to do an impostor channel where even if the content is not what was expected, it's something enjoyable. The first high quality rip he made and uploaded was a Pokémon rip.

Near the end of February, there were a few rips, and the channel started getting noticed by well-known individuals such as cobanermani456 and Temmie Chang on Twitter[2][3][4][5]. The channel started getting a steady flow of subscribers on February 20. On February 21 it surpassed one hundred subscribers, then surpassed five hundred on February 27. The subscriber flow rose drastically on February 28, with over 2,400 users subscribing that day (bringing the channel to over 3,000 subs).[6] From February 28 to March 13, the channel gained subscribers in the thousands almost every day (the record was set on March 8, with over 4,000 users subscribing that day), later the flow subsided to hundreds every day. The channel surpassed ten thousand subscribers on March 4, twenty thousand on March 10, and finally thirty thousand on March 24. By April 6, 2016, GiIvaSunner had 35,857 subscribers, and his videos had over ten million views total[7].

The GiIvaSunner team made an album: GilvaSunner's Highest Quality Video Game Rips: Volume 1. On April 1st, they uploaded normal rips as an April Fool's Day joke. They also made a fake second album that day: GiIvaSunner's HighestQuality Video Game Rips Volume 2 (anouncement.wmv).

Name change and first termination

On April 6, 2016, at some time between 2:01 and 2:11 p.m.,[8] the GiIvaSunner channel was terminated. Reacting to this, the real GiLvaSunner stated that he was okay with the channel[9]. The channel GiLvaSunner[10] was a tribute to the original channel SiLvaGunner[11][12]. The GiIvaSunner team used the name SiIvaGunner for a new channel. Tainic had created a channel named SiIvaGunner a month before so the GiIvaSunner team moved on to his channel[6].

The GiIvaSunner team moved to the SiIvaGunner channel, where they would continue uploading rips. On September 30, 2016, Chaze the Chat announced that the channel was ending. The supposedly last rip, "Title Theme - 7 GRAND DAD" was released on October 29.

"Season 2" (November 2016 - December 2017)

On September 30, 2016, Chaze the Chat channel announced the Channel Ending in the nutshack theme but the first nutshack is replaced with me ending the channel. A few finale rips were uploaded after this point. On October 29, Title Theme & Ending - 7 GRAND DAD was uploaded as the definitive finale.

On November 3, a Halloween-themed event called the The SiIvaGunner Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special occurred, revealing that the Channel Ending was not the true finale of the channel. The team would continue uploading rips under the newly-created character Wood Man, who from this point on would frequently appear as an in-universe connection between the team and the channel's viewers. After a few days, however, the rips stopped once again.

On December 14, 2016, The SilvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis began, solidifying a new storyline into the channel's lore.

The team continued uploading throughout 2017, occasionally releasing albums and episodes of the Christmas Comeback Crisis. In early July, the team was forced to stop uploading videos after God of ink - Splatoon 2 gave the channel its third copyright strike. On July 11, the channel resumed uploading.

On November 13, the team announced that they would appear at MAGFest 2018 and host a panel on the channel.

On December 20, some members of the SiIvaGunner team hosted an Alternate Reality Game revolving around the CCC. Known informally as the SiIvaGunner CCC ARG, it was a collaborative endeavor that members of the SiIvaGunner Discord solved on December 30, 2017, with the reward being "Bad Moon Rising - The SilvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis", a fake-out finale called "The Final Rip...", and a true ending to 2017 called "...of 2017".

"Season 3" (January 2018 - March 2019)

The new year began with the SiIvaGunner character back in control of the channel, with almost no explanation as to when or how he had returned. To accompany this strange twist, the team hosted the MAGFest 2018 SiIvaGunner panel on January 6, as planned. This was the first real-life appearance of the team at a convention.

The team continued to upload rips and host channel events during 2018. One of the most complex was a Super Smash Bros.-themed King for a Day Tournament, in which fans voted on a new character to take over the channel for a day. Starting from July 17 and lasting over three months, the King for a Day Tournament was the most ambitious project yet, with several original compositions and arrangements compiled into the album STRINGS OF FATE ~ SiIvaGunner: King for a Day Tournament Original Soundtrack. The winner of the tournament had its takeover on October 9, called the Unregistered HyperCam 2 takeover.

Hiatus and second termination

On December 18, the team uploaded The Grand Finale - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the last rip of 2018. The channel went completely silent (aside from announcements for the MAGFest 2019 SiIvaGunner panel and a comic as part of The Grinch takeover on Twitter).

On January 4, the channel was terminated due to multiple reports of copyright infringement. The team addressed the concerns during the MAGFest panel, as well as an online Q&A, reassuring viewers that the channel would continue even if the original channel was lost.

On January 9, the SiIvaGunner channel's most popular uploads were re-uploaded to SiIvaGunner2[13]. Chaze explained that this was done to celebrate the channel's anniversary, and to show why he loves SiIvaGunner.[14]

On February 28, 2019, YouTube eventually sorted out the SiIvaGunner channel's case, causing the channel to come back from termination on February 28, 2019. On the channel's return, Season 3's finale event began, starting with "Emote: Dance Moves (Epic Mix) - Fortnite"[15] and ending with "The Life and Times of Wade L.D. - A SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis Side Story".

"Season 4" (March 2019 - January 2020)

During the MAGFest 2019 panel, Chaze the Chat announced that SiIvaGunner's fourth season will focus on evoking the spirit of the first season, with its spontaneous gags and events. In the video "The 2019 Channel Update Vlog", he further announced that it would begin after one more video from Season 3. However, one more rip was uploaded on March 19, "Google Stadia Startup - Console BIOS/Startup Fanfare", which SiIvaGunner noted in the comments was not the real Season 3 finale, which began with "Emote: Dance Moves (Epic Mix) - Fortnite" and continued until March 25 with the final episode of Season 3, "The Life and Times of Wade L.D. - A SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis Side Story"[16].

Season 4 was primarily focused around the SiIvaGunner King for Another Day Tournament with character reveals and information being shared through rips and SiIva Direct live streams throughout most of the season. Season 4 began to enter its final phase when the Tournament began on November 23, 2019. The video Credits - SiIvaGunner: King for Another Day was uploaded on January 8, 2020. The end of the video indicated it was the "End of Season 4" and that the next season would be coming soon.

"Season 4 Episode 2" (January 2020 -)

In the conclusion of the King for Another Day Tournament, it was announce that Season 4 would be followed by Season 4 Episode 2, in reference to Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II. It was also revealed that the Christmas Comeback Crisis would be continuing during this season.

Within the lore of the SiIvaGunner universe, the channel has had many channel events in which characters and memes from the internet have taken over the channel, or been celebrated with thematic rips.

The Reboot (June 2016 - July 2016)

In May and June 2016, through two rips of "Megalovania", Chad Warden told the fans to stop disliking "Snow halation" rips. This created "community discourse", which was loaded by The Voice Inside Your Head into SiIvaGunner's new ripping software and led to a reboot of the channel, happening from June 17 to July 9. The biggest memes, as well as a few rips, were replaced with alternate versions: "GO MY WAY!!" replaced "Snow halation", and The Simpsons and Family Guy replaced "Meet the Flintstones". The Voice Inside Your Head then offered Chad Warden a deal to merge the original universe with the rebooted one, but without "Snow halation". Reluctantly, Chad agreed, in an attempt to restore the original memes. In the end, Chad Warden realized the power that "Snow halation" represented, and sacrificed himself to defeat the Voice and bring back "Snow halation". However, this was not the end...

Chad Warden's sacrifice seemed to have ended the Voice, however he was resurrected by Wood Man as a Figment. The Voice took over Grandiose City and began purging all anime, the true nature of his quest for world domination. Despite his best efforts, Smol Nozomi was able to escape, thus beginning The SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis.
