The Beatles were an English rock band, consisting of John Lennon (co-primary vocalist, co-primary songwriter and rhythm guitar), Paul McCartney (co-primary vocalist, co-primary songwriter and bass guitar), George Harrison (lead guitar) and Ringo Starr (drums). They are also a meme on the SiIvaGunner channel.

Overview[]

The Beatles[1] were formed in 1960 in Liverpool. For 3 years, the original trio of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison were performing at clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg with several drummers until they asked Ringo Starr to join in 1962. That year, along with manager Brian Epstein and producer George Martin, The Beatles became a hit with their debut single "Love Me Do". They eventually became so popular that their popularity was nicknamed "Beatlemania"[2] and by 1964, they were international stars, sparking the "British Invasion", a cultural phenomenon where various rock and pop artists from the UK became incredibly popular in the USA.[3]

By 1970, The Beatles had been in the spotlight for about a decade. Numerous reasons and issues were causing the band members to drift apart, such as the death of manager Brain Epstein a few years prior, tensions between Lennon and McCartney, Lennon's relationship with Yoko Ono, and more. By 1970, the members had all officially separated. John Lennon was murdered on December 8, 1980, and on November 29, 2001, George Harrison passed away from cancer. All four Beatles achieved successful music careers after their breakup, and the remaining members Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney still produce their own music.

Over their decade-long career, they produced 213 songs (188 originals, 25 covers) and 12 albums. The band have an estimated sales of 600 million units worldwide, making them the best selling artists of all time, and received numerous accolades, including 7 Grammys. The Beatles hold many records such as the most Billboard number-ones, the most number-one albums (in the UK Charts), been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (both as the band and for each member individually) and are regarded as the most influential band of all time.

Rips[]

The Beatles songs are featured in many SiIvaGunner high quality rips. They are often incorporated as melody changes but are occasionally used in mashups too, however these are discouraged but not outright banned as the Beatles' music in particular is known for being very restrictive with copyright issues and most videos featuring their music are blocked in many countries. SiIvaGunner sometimes rips Beatles songs directly, posting them as tracks from the rhythm game The Beatles: Rock Band, similarly to Maroon 5 with Maroon GO (although Maroon GO is a fake game). Beatles parody songs are also occasionally used in rips, particularly "It's Okay To Leave A Dog In A Hot Car" by Billy Cobb.

A notable number of rips featuring Beatles songs are rips of the MOTHER/EarthBound series, referencing how The Beatles (more specifically John Lennon) served as an inspiration for the games' composers while developing EarthBound's soundtrack.[4] The first instance of this was "Megaton Walk - EarthBound". There is also a running gag starting with "Super Mario All Stars SMB3 Enemy Battle (PAL Version)" where rips featuring The Beatles frequently use the mix name "PAL Version", in reference to The Beatles hailing from England (PAL is a colour encoding system for analogue TVs widely used in most European countries).

On August 27, 2021, as a part of the SiIvaGunner All-Star Summer Festival 2021: Legends of the Western Sunset super-event, the channel hosted a Beatles Event, where a lot of rips featuring The Beatles were uploaded. This event followed on from the Gabe Newell Takeover the day prior, which prominently featured "A Hard Day's Night" in reference to the video "Mega64: The Beatles Rock Band", as it features both The Beatles and Gabe Newell. The event's date could have also possibly been planned for the release of the documentary The Beatles: Get Back, which at one point was supposed to release on that day until it got postponed to late November.[5]

On August 29, 2021, SiIvaGunner released SiIvaGunner's Lonely Rips Club Band, an album which compiles most of the Beatles-related rips on the channel.
