Plot summary[]
Following the events of "Let's discuss business.", Susie confronts Wood Man and tries to convince him to return to Grandiose City to join his friends in the fight against The Voice Inside Your Head. Wood Man refuses by saying that his participation would not matter due to the predestined fate of the Christmas Comeback Crisis.
Susie gets agitated by his response, angering Wood Man. He then asks Susie to allow him to explain his guilt for his actions. He compares himself to the SiIva A.I., who always stayed on task, never complained and ended his own existence when it was necessary for the world. In contrast, he delayed and created distractions for himself, because he wanted to "fix everything" and yet was unable to bring himself to take action.
Susie empathizes with him, relating to his struggles using her own micromanagement tendencies, and explaining that she realized there was no such thing as "magic solutions". She implores him to join his friends in the battle anyway, even if he could not be in control of the situation, as his participation in and of itself would be important. After she finishes speaking, she fades away before Wood Man can respond.

[Wood Man stares into the distance. He appears as a faint outline, facing away from us.] [Susie appears behind him, also as a faint outline.] Susie:
Be not afraid. [Wood Man notices Susie and looks at her with an annoyed face. He then turns away from her again.] [Susie bows. As she speaks, Wood Man does not look at her.] Susie:
Hello, Wood Man. I promise I will not take up a significant portion of your time. I have come here today to participate in an exchange of knowledge. I believe I have information pertinent to you, and I believe that... I believe that this information may help you reconsider your current options. The world moved since you left, Wood Man. The trio emerged from the bottom of the tower and are currently in The Voice's office. SiIvaGunner has awoken from his slumber. Everything is falling into place. The end is nigh inevitable. Wood Man:
oh cool Susie:
There is reason to suspect that The Voice Inside Your Head has a "final stand" contingency plan. I hate the things that he has done, but denying his intelligence would be unwise of us. I believe that you will be of service to whatever may occur, with your previous knowledge of The Voice and previous experience with his technology. Because of this, I have come here to formally request your participation in the final battle. I believe that you will be invaluable in the fight that is expected to happen. [Wood Man looks back at Susie, who looks up at him.] Wood Man:
okay look idk how you're here or why you chose to come and find me but you're not telling me anything i don't know Susie:
I'm sorry? Wood Man:
the ai died. years collapsed on itself in minutes. doesn't happen every day so i have a pretty good guess of what's going on behind me you don't need to tell me Susie:
So you've known. Wood Man:
sure Susie:
And did you... have any plan of returning? Wood Man:
idk i know i don't have to be there for them to win Susie:
That's a highly dangerous mindset. You don't know The Voice's capability. Wood Man:
no, i can say that i don't have to be there there'll be some confrontation they'll punch him in the fucking face or smth and then they'll win anybody can do that Susie:
And what makes you so confident the trio will succeed? Wood Man:
i mean how honest do you want me to be Susie:
Go ahead. Wood Man:
heh Susie:
What is it? Wood Man:
sorry i just im realizing im saying it out loud for the first time snow halation that's what it spells out, right we're at the end. something's gotta happen Susie:
...ah. Wood Man:
heh ...heh look and i'll be honest if it gets you to go away [Wood Man turns around to face Susie, gesturing with his hands.] Wood Man:
they don't need me i know they don't. and frankly you saw that they didn't so why are you here to tell me shit i already know Susie:
I did not come here to tell you, I came here to talk to you. I was hoping you would be more... receptive to this type of information. Wood Man:
and i'm not sure why you expected that i think i made myself clear i'm really not sure what you wanted out of this Susie:
What I wanted was somebody who would stand up to the challenge given when the opportunity arose. But it seems like that isn't the case. Wood Man:
look if you're trying to do some stand up to the call thing then it's not worth it. you're not gonna get anywhere i'm here because i'm tapped out dude i'm away from it all. idc so that's it just leave me alone [Wood Man turns away from Susie. Both are silent for a moment.] Susie:
Are you kidding me? Wood Man:
what Susie:
You're going to stand in front of me and tell me you don't care. Wood Man:
its the truth Susie:
I refuse to believe you on principle, are you kidding me? Here's the thing - you don't get to stand here and be "tapped out". Because for somebody that "tapped out," you sure cared for a long time. You filmed a movie because it was easier, you hosted a festival because it was easier, you did whatever because it was easier, sure. But you still cared. You still DESIRED to do something. You did all of this - you casted yourself to damnation over this, and when something does happen the most you can say is "oh, cool"? Forgive me for not believing you when you say you don't have anything to comment. [Both are now angry at each other. Wood Man yells in frustration:] Wood Man:
stop Susie:
Excuse me? Wood Man:
just stop talking. do you think i don't fucking get it Susie:
I- you- urgh! [Susie turns away from Wood Man.] Susie:
The worst part is that you could've done something. That I - that they - had to watch you, as you stared the problem in the face and walked into the darkness. You could've done ANYTHING. Wood Man:
i really couldn't have Susie:
No, you could have. But you didn't. Instead you pushed it off, and when push returned a shove you pushed it off again, and here we are again as you detach yourself from it altogether. The cycle continues. Do you not realize this is self-annihilation? Wood Man:
can we just start at how i feel like a piece of shit about it and work from there [Wood Man pauses.] Wood Man:
what do you know about the siiva ai Susie:
Sorry? Wood Man:
the siiva ai. the machine made by your dad Susie:
Well, at this point in my life, I would consider myself one of the predominant experts on the matter. But... enlighten me. Wood Man:
for a long time siivagunner had been unusable since he went to bed. this caused a whole bunch of problems when people realized that they weren't happy about this so the science team at haltmann works created the siiva ai. a brand new device to pretend the guy didn't go away at all. their perfect out, as they pretended to think they could do everything they were asked for and say what you will about the thing. but it clearly worked he carried years worth of this channel on his shoulders. making sure things happened as nothing could anywhere else. the most thankless job ever and when the world told him it was do or die, the guy got himself killed to make sure his world could move on. he did everything he could for his world what a guy, right? Susie:
...he envied you. He envied your freedom. Wood Man:
and what good does freedom do me if nobody else can have it i made a vow to the people i cared about. that i could fix this. that i would be there for them and what was i doing? running around making his world my fucking mcdonald's playplace as the clock ticked down behind me i don't want to do "something" to help them. that's bullshit. i want to fix everything. i want to fix the fucking problem. i want there to be an ending to all of this but the world told me to do or die. and i couldn't stick the landing. he got himself killed, and i can't even walk forward what do you do when there's a virus slowing down your processes? you trash it. you take it out of the picture so that's what i did. and the world moved on fine without me, clearly. they got what they wanted at that point, why should i care? i shouldn't. i wish i couldn't give a shit. but i do i care too much to stare them in the eyes. i know goddamn well i'm a failure and that's why i'm here i just wanna make stupid jokes on the internet man Susie:
Mm. [Susie pauses. She turns away from Wood Man and looks down regretfully.] Susie:
I would like to... formally apologize for my prior behavior. It was very... un-ladylike of me. It's... it's just been a lot. Wood Man:
yeah [Susie looks at Wood Man, who is still facing away from her.] Susie:
I've been given an opportunity to speak at the grand recital, a testament to your work and mine. It's... almost mortifying, to think of what to say with my limited time here. What could make it all worth it? I've been watching everything since the beginning, Wood Man. The Christmas seasons, the Halloween nights, the festivals. Immersed by force, observed by choice. I almost wish I could be more frustrated at you. I'm sure others could. But the truth is that I get it - how none of this is turning out how you wanted it to. How you... became the architect of your own undoing. Crossing the bridge to get here took a lot of work from a lot of generous people. I relied on the support of many to stand in front of you today. ...and it constantly irked me. Believe me, I yearned for doing it all myself, as impossible as that would be. I'm a real... micromanager. It comes with being the presidential secretary. I constantly thought about the thing I would do if I could just fix the problem myself, the loose thread to pull to make the knot unfurl, the quick fix that could make the medicine go down. The one... "magic solution." And you know what? I never found it. So I took my hands off the controls. I lent my faith to them, as they had given strength to me. I let them create the bridge, as I prepared to cross it. And then after all that headache, I almost didn't make it. Isn't that funny? And now that I stand here in front of you, they have nothing but my undying gratitude for allowing me to be here. The "magic solution" - it doesn't exist, Wood Man. There's no singular quick fix. It's us. The fact that we're here... that we have been imbued with the strength of care. That I can stand in front of you and... try to tell you this. I know you care about them a lot, Wood Man. You care about everybody who has been put in danger because of this struggle. Robbie, Takane, so on, so forth. So instead of making a vow, waiting to find that one magic solution... ...perhaps it could be sufficient to show up for those you care about in their time of need. Dislodge yourself from the reins. It is difficult. You might hate it. I think you will, even. But I want you to be there. They will be waiting there for you, as you care about them. And perhaps you will have a new chance to save them, and give life to their world. It is not ideal, but... it is better than letting yourself fall to irrelevance. Please... consider. Please consider showing up. I understand that it is the most I can ask. I believe that you - your presence - will be invaluable in the fight that is expected to happen. That's the deal. No strings attached. Thank you for your time. [Susie looks down. She fades away.] Wood Man:
mm [Wood Man stares into the distance alone.] |

History[]
This rip was originally titled "The Meeting - A SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis Side Story" with an uppercase i in SiIvaGunner.[1] It was renamed to use a lowercase L in February 2025.
Trivia[]
- The mention of "Tai Lung" in the "SPECIAL UNTHANKS" section references an in-joke while the ARG was happening, after Pyromide out of nowhere announced that "tai lung has escaped" and "tai lung is free".
