"Thomas Theme" is the original theme song of the TV show Thomas & Friends, formerly known as Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. It was composed by Mike O'Donnell and Junior Campbell, and was used by the show from 1984 to 2003. It has appeared in various tie-in video games, and is a frequently ripped track on the SiIvaGunner channel.
Summary[]
"Thomas Theme" was used as the theme song for the first seven seasons of Thomas & Friends. Many of the video game adaptations of the show feature the track or an arrangement of it.
The first video game adaptation with an arrangement of "Thomas Theme" was the 1990 Alternative Software game Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, which was initially released on the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC and was later ported to the Commodore 64, MS DOS, Amiga and Atari ST in 1992.
A game adaptation developed by THQ, also titled Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, was released for the SNES and Sega Genesis in 1993. An unreleased version of the game for the NES was later discovered and dumped online on August 28, 2007 as a part of the Virtual Console Alternative Week event on the Lost Levels forums.[1] All three versions feature an arrangement of "Thomas Theme"; the NES version was arranged by Geoff Follin, the SNES version was arranged by Tim and Geoff Follin, and the Genesis version was arranged by Brian Howarth.
Although "Thomas Theme" was replaced as the Thomas & Friends theme song in 2004, the last game to include the track is the 2010 Wii game Thomas & Friends: Hero of the Rails, where it is present as an unused file.[2]
