    Third time I'm trying this, since the Forums seem buggy today...

    I've made a new template called Template:Rip form to help facilitate the creation of new Rip articles. It would be preloaded in a page like so:

    ...which would use Template:Rip form to create a new page.

    What do you all think?~ironwestie (talk to me)(contribs) 23:26, June 11, 2017 (UTC)

    • I'm really eager to test that, it sounds great, but I'll do it later, maybe this weekend if I make more rip articles, sorry for the wait. I'm doing almost nothing except discussing in threads here these days...

      On another subject, I saw you're starting an infobox for Channel events. This is really appreciated! To be honest, I was about to put that in my TODO list :) (but I'm supposed to be working, anyway). I'll probably start a new thread to continue the discussion from the category page, though.

    • Have you had time to try out the form?

      I've also finished the infobox for Events. It's currently located at Template:Infobox event/test.

    • So I just tried the form with Underground - Super Mario Bros. 2.

      It sounds really promising. It really helps making articles faster.

      Thank you for your work!

      Two questions:

      • Are you going to add the introduction phrase?
      • Is there any way to get rid automatically of the template documentation and the <includeonly> (Category:Templates) </includeonly>?

      No, since we are still discussing what it should be.

      Is there any way to get rid automatically of the template documentation and the <includeonly> (Category:Templates) </includeonly>?

      I'm not sure if I understand your question, but there is no reason to remove that code from the template page:

      • When the template is preloaded, the template documentation and the <noinclude>[[:Category:Templates]]</noinclude> code do not appear on the page you create. That is the reason why the <noinclude> tags are on the Template page.
      • On the Template page, that code allows the template to be categorized and documented.

      • Yes, I meant whether or not you're going to add it when we'll all agree on the phrase.
      • I was talking about how the template doc and category appeared at the end when making a page with Rip form. I found that weird at first. I guess this is a side-effect of transcluding the template then, so we can't do anything against it.

    • Quickly doing this before I have to leave:

      • I will add an outline of the intro phrase when we decide
      • To my knowledge, if you preload a template or transclude it, the Documentation code should not appear at all since it is surrounded by noinclude tags.

    • Yeah that's what I thought too. I don't know why it did that Yesterday then.

      EDIT: I still have that problem. The documention appears when creating a page.

    • To properly preload the template, you need to use the box above OR append the string "&preload=Template:Rip form" to the URL that is generated when you click a redlink (or the global "Add a page" button).

      For example, I'll type "Foo" into the box. When I clicked the Create page button, it redirected me to this url:

      http://siivagunner.wikia.com/index.php?flow=create-page-input-box&create=Create+Rip+page&title=Foo&minor=&prefix=&nosummary=&summary=&editintro=&preload=template:Rip+form&action=edit&tracked=true

      I could have also gone to

      http://siivagunner.wikia.com/wiki/Foo?action=edit&preload=Template:Rip form

      ...which would redirect me to:

      http://siivagunner.wikia.com/wiki/Foo?preload=Template:Rip%20form&action=edit&flow=create-page-direct-url&tracked=true

      If you're trying to use the syntax {{Rip form}}, you will run into some problems.

    • I don't get it. All these links redirect me to editing the page with the template documention preloaded.

    • I'm not sure why that is, but I went ahead and removed the documentation. Besides that unknown error, is the template okay?

    • Yeah it is :)

    • Cool! I was thinking of putting this on the main page (preferably under "The high quality rip database"):

      <p style="text-align:center;">We currently have '''[[:Category:Rips|{{#switch:{{PAGESINCAT:Rips}}|0={{PAGESINCAT:Rips}}|#default={{PAGESINCAT:Rips}}}}]]''' rips listed. If you can't find the rip you're looking for, create the rip's page by entering its name into the box below<br>
      <inputbox>
         type=create
         preload=template:Rip_form
         width=30
         buttonlabel= Create Rip page
      </inputbox>

      We currently have 11,954 high quality rips listed. If you can't find the rip you're looking for, create the rip's page by entering its name into the box below

      ...and adding the following text to Mediawiki:Newarticletext:

      To create a new rip page, click [{{fullurl:{{FULLPAGENAME}}|action=edit&preload=Template:Rip_form}} here].

      To create a new rip page, click here.

      EDIT: Fixed the Newarticletext link. ~ironwestie (talk to me)(contribs) 00:21, June 23, 2017 (UTC)

      EDIT2: Added _ between "Rip" and "form" in "Rip form". ~ironwestie (talk to me)(contribs) 00:28, June 23, 2017 (UTC)
