"Wood Man Stage" is the song that plays during Wood Man's stage in Mega Man 2. It was composed by Takashi Tateishi. The song has been remixed in other games since, such as Mega Man 8 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
mm2wood[]
"mm2wood" (or "mm2wood.mid") is a poorly made MIDI file created in 1995 based on "Wood Man Stage". It is known for being the basis of a MIDIJam video. The MIDI features off-sync instruments, overly loud percussion, and inaccuracies with the original track. Smoky has uploaded a version of it with the MIDIJam visuals and mm2wood audio.
The MIDI first appeared on June 21, 2016 in the rip "Main Theme (OST Version) - Mighty No. 9". Matsu Muhō proposed that this rip would be "mm2wood.mid", a file that a friend of his found when looking for bad MIDIs.[1]. Afterwards, it didn't appear again until the rip "Wood Man - Mega Man 2" on October 19, 2016, another contribution by Matsu Muhō, as well as the first rip of "Wood Man Stage". Some time later, it was revealed that the character Wood Man was behind the "corruptions" on all the albums.
The usage of "mm2wood" in rips sometimes consists of the MIDI file rearranged into another song, put into MIDIJam and named with a title corresponding to the joke but similar to "mm2wood". Many rips also use the music from "Wood Man Stage" without any direct reference to "mm2wood.mid".
Arrangements of "mm2wood.mid" frequently appear in SiIvaGunner's Original Fusion Collabs, usually contrasting the more serious-sounding arrangements before and after it.
Trivia[]
The MIDIJam video was teased by Triple-Q on Twitter on October 5, 2016, a few days before it appeared on the channel.[2]
